PAMP Suisse: frequently asked questions

PAMP stands for Produits Artistiques Metaux Precieux (Artistic Precious Metals Products). The refinery is located in Castel San Pietro, canton of Ticino, Switzerland, close to the Italian border. It operates as part of the MKS PAMP Group, whose headquarters are in Geneva. PAMP was founded in 1977 and produces minted bars, wholesale Good Delivery bars, and a range of collectible designs.
PAMP bars typically carry a higher premium than generic cast bars for several reasons: each minted bar is individually packaged in a CertiPAMP sealed assay card with a unique serial number and an independent assayer's signature; the bars feature distinctive artistic designs rather than plain surfaces; and PAMP's Veriscan anti-counterfeiting technology adds a verifiable authenticity layer. Collectability and strong secondary-market recognition also contribute to the premium over spot.
PAMP SA holds LBMA Good Delivery accreditation for both gold and silver, is one of three worldwide LBMA and LPPM Approved Referees, and is a CME Group (COMEX) non-clearing member. It is ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025, and SA 8000 certified, and holds a Swiss Precious Metals Control Act Melter License. Wholesale clients include several sovereign mints.
PAMP bars sold in CertiPAMP blister packaging carry a unique serial number and an independent Swiss Federal Assayer's signature inside a tamper-evident sealed card. PAMP's Veriscan app (available for iPhone) reads the bar's microscopic surface topography as a unique fingerprint and checks it against the PAMP database. A bar removed from its original sealed assay card cannot be Veriscan-verified and should be treated with extra caution.
Lady Fortuna is PAMP's flagship minted bar design, depicting the Roman goddess of fortune as a blindfolded woman holding a cornucopia, sheaves of wheat, poppies, and a wheel of fortune. PAMP was the first precious metals brand to introduce artistic reverse designs on minted bars. The design has appeared on PAMP gold bars since 1982 and is widely associated with the PAMP brand.
