Tombstone Silver: frequently asked questions

The Tombstone is a hand-poured, tombstone-shaped 2 troy oz silver bar made by Monarch Precious Metals, a privately held US mint founded in 2008 in southern Oregon. Each bar is individually poured, hand-stamped, and hand-finished to .999 fine silver, giving it a rounded-top, flat-base silhouette. The standard tombstone shape is no longer in regular production and now appears mainly in limited-edition seasonal releases.
Tombstone silver bars track the live silver spot price of $60.83, plus a premium reflecting the hand-poured artisan production. We track 13 listings across 3 dealers. Click through to individual product pages to see current per-offer prices.
The Monarch Precious Metals Tombstone silver bar is made in a 2 troy oz size. Seasonal limited-edition releases use the same tombstone shape with themed designs, such as the Haunted Tree and Vampire editions, each produced in a limited serialised run.
VAT treatment on silver bars depends on your country. In the UK, silver bars carry 20% VAT. In Canada, silver bullion meeting the 99.9% purity threshold is GST-exempt. Australia exempts investment-grade silver from GST. Germany and Ireland apply 19% and 23% respectively, though a margin scheme may reduce the effective rate on pre-owned pieces.
