About Guardian Gold
Bullion Dealing Inside Guardian Vaults' Sydney and Melbourne Facilities
Guardian Gold Pty Ltd is the bullion trading division of Guardian Vaults, an Australian secure storage business that opened in 2002. The dealing arm was incorporated in 2010 (ACN 141 508 223) and operates from vault premises in the Sydney and Melbourne CBDs: 151 Castlereagh Street in Sydney, plus 100 William Street and 271 Collins Street in Melbourne, with the William Street site serving as the registered office.
The company is an authorised distributor of both The Perth Mint and the Royal Australian Mint, selling gold and silver bullion priced in Australian dollars, with buyback offered alongside sales. Dealing and vaulting run as one integrated service: customers can purchase, insure, audit, and store physical bullion without leaving the facility, with fully allocated and segregated storage available. The arrangement is aimed in particular at self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) investors, for whom compliant purchase and storage can be handled together. Guardian Vaults' facilities are independently assessed by Lloyd's of London risk assessors, and in 2025 the business began taking over Westpac's Safe Custody vault services.

-
In Australia, buying investment-grade gold bullion is generally GST-free, but any gain on sale must be reported to the ATO as a capital gain. A CGT discount applies for assets held longer than 12 months; verify the current rate with a tax adviser or the ATO. Rules vary by country, so check with your local tax authority before buying or selling.
-
Physical bullion held at home is typically only covered by home contents insurance up to a low sub-limit, so specialist insurance is worth considering. Guardian Gold's integrated vault storage through Guardian Vaults is independently assessed by Lloyd's of London risk assessors, providing allocated and segregated storage with insurance coverage included. SMSF investors can hold bullion through this arrangement under compliant conditions.
