The Zodiac bar's tax treatment is determined by its status as a .999 fine silver product from a US private mint. The collector premium, artistic finishing, and ultra high relief design do not affect tax classification in any jurisdiction.

United States

Not IRA-eligible. Although the .999+ purity meets the IRS minimum for silver, IRA-eligible silver must also come from a NYMEX/COMEX-approved refiner or a national government mint. Monarch Precious Metals does not hold COMEX/NYMEX approval, so these pieces are not accepted for retirement account purposes. State sales tax varies: approximately 35 states exempt bullion from sales tax regardless of manufacturer. United Kingdom
