The series focuses on powerful women from Germanic folklore, with each biennial release depicting a different wise woman archetype from pre-Christian tradition.

Two designs have been released so far: the Seeress (2023) and the Herbalist (2025), with two more planned through 2029. Each 1 oz BU round ships in a capsule with a Certificate of Authenticity from Germania Mint. The Witchcraft series shares Germania Mint's standard four-nines silver purity, matching the level used across their Allegories and Beasts ranges.

For buyers focused on metal content rather than collectibility, the 1 oz BU version is the entry point to the series. The Ritual edition (antique finish with gold accents, mintage 1,000-2,000) and the 2 oz Ultra High Relief (which features gemstone insets and UV-reactive elements) sit in collector territory with premiums well above bullion pricing. The standard BU round trades closer to generic round premiums, though the low mintage of 10,000-20,000 pieces means secondary market availability is not guaranteed indefinitely.

Germania Mint launched the Witchcraft series in 2023 to explore the historical role of wise women in pre-Christian Germanic societies. These were not the witch-trial victims of the Early Modern period but rather respected figures who served as healers, herbalists, prophets, and spiritual leaders in their communities.

The first release, the Seeress, depicts a Volva (prophetess) from Norse mythology. The Voluspa, meaning "Prophecy of the Seeress," is the opening poem of the Poetic Edda and describes both the creation and eventual destruction of the world. The coin's figure wears ceremonial attire including a diadem, belt, and pendant crafted from deer skull fragments and antlers, and grasps a staff symbolising mystical authority. The mintage of 20,000 for the BU version established the series at a level well below mass-market bullion but above true numismatic scarcity.

The 2025 Herbalist release shifted focus to a woman with knowledge of healing plants. Her companion is Ratatosk, the mythological squirrel from Yggdrasil (the Norse world tree) who runs between the eagle at the crown and the dragon Nidhogg at the roots, carrying messages (and insults) between them. The mintage dropped to 10,000 for the BU version, half the inaugural release. Whether this reflects planned scarcity or adjusted production is not publicly stated by the mint.

Mateusz Frackowiak designed both releases, maintaining visual consistency across the series: detailed portraiture, flowing hair, natural elements, and animal companions. Two further characters remain scheduled for 2027 and 2029, though their identities have not been revealed. The biennial release cadence gives each design a two-year primary market window before the next issue.
