Baird & Co.: frequently asked questions

Baird & Co. is a London-based precious metals refinery and dealer, not to be confused with the US financial advisory firm Robert W. Baird. Founded in 1967 by Tony Baird, it opened its first refinery in 1979 and became a full member of the LBMA in 2000. Its refinery is a 30,000 sq ft facility in Beckton, east London, and it operates a retail showroom at 48 Hatton Garden.
Baird & Co. is a privately owned company. It was founded by Tony Baird, who died in April 2015. The company continues as a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 02269558).
Baird & Co. produces cast and minted bars in gold (999.9 fine), silver (999.9 fine), and platinum (999.5 fine), as well as palladium and rhodium bars. The range spans 1 g to 1 kg in gold. Baird was also the first to produce a commercial rhodium investment bar, in 2012. BullionFerret tracks 22 Baird products listed by dealers across our coverage markets.
Baird & Co. holds LBMA full membership and its bars meet Good Delivery standards, which include independent auditing of purity and production processes. The company's LBMA accreditation provides a recognised layer of third-party verification. Purchasing from an authorised LBMA-member dealer is the most reliable way to ensure you receive a genuine bar.
