About the Themis Silver

Kinesis Mint's Themis Silver Bars

The Themis series is a line of minted silver bars produced by Kinesis Mint, a precious metals refinery and mint based in Istanbul, Turkey. The bars feature the Greek goddess Themis, the Titan of justice and divine order, depicted in classical style holding the scales of justice. The Themis name reflects the branding philosophy of Kinesis Money, the parent company, which positions its products around concepts of fairness and sound money.

Kinesis Mint was established in 2021 as a 5,600 square metre facility with ISO 9001:2015 certification and a production capacity of 200,000 pieces per month. The mint is a subsidiary of Kinesis Money, a blockchain-based monetary system founded in 2018 by Thomas Coughlin. Kinesis operates gold-backed (KAU) and silver-backed (KAG) digital tokens alongside physical bullion sales through its Kinesis Bullion store. The Themis bars represent the physical bullion arm of this broader digital-physical ecosystem.

Silver Themis bars are available in 1 oz, 5 oz, and 100g denominations, all struck at .999 fine silver. These are private mint products with no legal tender status, no sovereign government backing, and no face value. The bars are minted (pressed with a design) rather than cast, giving them clean edges and consistent visual quality.

The key consideration for prospective buyers is liquidity. Kinesis Mint is newer and less established than the major bar producers like PAMP Suisse, Valcambi, or Heraeus, all of which carry LBMA Good Delivery accreditation and decades of global recognition. Kinesis Mint's LBMA accreditation status has not been confirmed in available sources. This matters for resale: LBMA-accredited bars command tighter bid-ask spreads and are accepted by a wider range of dealers worldwide. Kinesis Themis bars will typically trade at generic bar buyback prices rather than the branded premiums that LBMA-accredited refiners achieve.

The Themis bars are most relevant within the Kinesis ecosystem, particularly for holders of KAU or KAG digital tokens who want to take physical delivery of their metal. For general silver investment, sovereign mint coins or bars from established LBMA-accredited refiners typically offer better resale value and wider market acceptance.

Kinesis Mint also produces gold Themis bars (1g through 50g in .9999 purity with laser-engraved serial numbers) and a separate "Ma'at" round design featuring the Egyptian goddess of truth and justice. The Ma'at appears on round-format products, keeping the Themis branding exclusive to the bar line.

Security features include tamper-evident packaging and in-house lab testing for purity verification. Gold bars carry individual laser-engraved serial numbers. Specific packaging details for the silver bars are not published in available dealer listings. The ISO 9001:2015 certification covers the manufacturing process quality management system.
