About Hatton Garden Metals
A Family-Run Bullion Dealer in London's Jewellery Quarter
Hatton Garden Metals is a precious metals dealer based in Hatton Garden, London's historic jewellery quarter. The business was founded in 2007 and incorporated as Hatton Garden Metals Limited, Companies House number 06426684, in November of that year. It is family-run: the Lyons family behind the company has a background in the gold and jewellery trade that began in North West England and now spans three generations.
The dealer buys and sells gold, silver, platinum, and palladium across coins, bars, jewellery, and scrap. On the investment side, the range covers gold sovereigns, Krugerrands, and Britannias alongside other gold and silver coins and bars. Customers can deal online or in person at the Hatton Garden trade counter at Plouviez House on Hatton Place, and the buying operation is supported by in-house testing and on-site melt facilities.
Beyond London, sell-only drop-off and collection points operate in Manchester, the Midlands, Yorkshire, Essex, and Scotland through a network of certified secure depots, and an insured postal service covers sellers elsewhere in the UK. The company also offers secure storage and dedicated trade accounts for institutional and professional clients, and works with jewellers, pawnbrokers, repairers, and casters across the trade.
Hatton Garden Metals is an LBMA Affiliate Member, an admission the company announced on its own site, and is VAT-registered in the UK. Alongside investment bullion, its second-hand precious metals arm handles pre-owned coins and jewellery, reflecting the family's long association with the jewellery and pawnbroking trades.
From 2007 Incorporation to Three Generations in Hatton Garden
Hatton Garden Metals Limited was incorporated on 14 November 2007, and the company dates its founding to the same year. It established an online presence early: the first archived snapshot of hattongardenmetals.com dates from December 2008. The original registered office stood at 11 St Cross Street, in the heart of the Hatton Garden jewellery quarter.
The Lyons family, whose history in the gold and jewellery trade began with shops in North West England, formalised its leadership of the company in December 2013, when the family's senior figure was appointed director. Around 2014 the business expanded with a dedicated second-hand precious metals arm, building on the family's pawnbroking heritage. The company also became an LBMA Affiliate Member, announcing the admission on its own website.
From 2020 the ownership picture broadened through a partnership with Manchester-based security interests. Associated Security Services Holdings Limited held a significant-control position from November 2022, and following a group restructuring in May 2024 that position passed to Turner Security Properties Limited, which holds between a quarter and a half of the shares, with the Lyons family holding a comparable stake. The security relationship also underpins the dealer's national selling network, whose regional drop-off locations in Manchester, the Midlands, Yorkshire, Essex, and Scotland operate through Associated Security Solutions certified depots.
In May 2024, the same month as the ownership restructuring, a third generation of the Lyons family was formally appointed to the board. In March 2026 the company moved its registered office and trading premises a few streets within Hatton Garden, from 11 St Cross Street to Plouviez House at 19-20 Hatton Place, which houses its trade counter.
