About the PAMP Diwali Gold

PAMP Suisse Diwali Gold Bars

The PAMP Diwali series is an annual limited-edition gold bar range from PAMP Suisse, celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Each year features a new design centred on the goddess Lakshmi, deity of wealth, prosperity, and fortune, with the inscriptions "DIWALI" and "FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS" on the reverse. The bars are struck in .9999 fine gold and are available in 5g, 10g, and 1oz weights.

The series is deliberately timed for release before the Diwali festival season (October-November), when gold buying peaks in Hindu tradition. Purchasing gold during Diwali is considered auspicious, particularly on Dhanteras, the first day of celebrations. This cultural timing is central to the product's identity: the Diwali bars are designed not just as bullion investments but as meaningful gifts, and the packaging is crafted specifically for presentation.

Limited mintages, reported at 5,000 pieces per edition for some weights, create genuine scarcity compared to PAMP's standard production lines. The bars ship sealed in CertiPAMP assay cards with individual serial numbers, and PAMP's Veriscan authentication technology allows verification of each bar's unique surface topology through the sealed packaging. The combination of LBMA-accredited purity, limited availability, and cultural significance positions these bars above standard bullion on the premium scale.

PAMP Suisse, founded in 1977 in Castel San Pietro, Ticino, Switzerland, is part of the MKS PAMP Group and is one of only five referees on the LBMA gold refining panel. This represents the highest tier of quality assurance in the global gold industry.

The obverse of all editions features the standard PAMP Suisse emblem with weight, purity (.9999), metal content designation, and serial number. The proof-like finish combines frosted design details against mirrored backgrounds, giving each bar a visual quality that distinguishes it from standard minted bars. The combination of frosting and mirror polish requires precision minting techniques that contribute to the Diwali bar's premium positioning above standard PAMP products.

The themed gift sleeve that accompanies each CertiPAMP card is designed specifically for presentation. The 2025 edition features colourful rangoli-inspired patterns, while earlier editions used lantern and peacock motifs matching their respective reverse designs. This packaging is a functional part of the product for the gifting market rather than a purely protective wrapper, recognising that a significant proportion of Diwali gold bars are purchased as gifts during the festival season. PAMP Suisse is one of only five referees on the LBMA gold refining panel, and the Diwali bars are manufactured to the same exacting standards as all PAMP products.

PAMP Diwali Gold Bar Tax Treatment

PAMP Diwali bars are not legal tender. As gold bars of .9999 purity from an LBMA-accredited refinery, they qualify for investment gold tax exemptions in most markets.

United Kingdom

VAT-free as investment gold. Not CGT-exempt (gold bars are never CGT-exempt in the UK; only Royal Mint UK legal tender coins such as the Britannia qualify). Gains above the £3,000 annual allowance are taxed at 18% or 24%.

United States

No federal sales tax. State exemptions vary, with approximately 35 states exempting investment-grade precious metals. IRA-eligible as .9999 purity gold from an LBMA-accredited refiner meets IRS requirements when held by an approved custodian. Capital gains taxed at the collectibles rate of up to 28% for holdings over one year.

India

Subject to import duties and 3% GST on gold bullion. The Diwali theme makes this product particularly relevant for the Indian diaspora market worldwide, but direct import to India carries additional customs costs. MMTC-PAMP products manufactured domestically in India avoid these import charges.

Singapore

GST-exempt under the Investment Precious Metals (IPM) scheme for gold of 99.5%+ purity from recognised refiners. No capital gains tax. Strong demand from the South Asian community in Singapore.

European Union

VAT-exempt as investment gold under EU Directive 98/80/EC (gold bars of 995+ fineness qualify).

Canada

GST/HST-exempt for gold bars exceeding 99.5% purity.

Australia

GST-free for investment-grade gold of 99.5%+ purity.

Hong Kong

No sales tax, no import duty, no capital gains tax.

Annual Designs Celebrating the Festival of Lights

The PAMP Diwali series launched around 2022, with confirmed annual editions in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Each release reinterprets the goddess Lakshmi in a new artistic composition while maintaining the "DIWALI" and "FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS" inscriptions that identify the series.

The 2023 edition depicted Lakshmi seated upon a lotus flower, the Buddhist and Hindu symbol of enlightenment and rebirth, surrounded by floating lanterns. The 2024 edition, titled "Lakshmi and Peacocks," placed the goddess within a lotus flower flanked by peacocks, traditional symbols of good fortune in Hindu culture. The peacock motif added cultural depth while maintaining the meditative quality of the earlier design.

The 2025 edition, "Lakshmi and Rangoli," encircled the goddess with garlands of marigold and hibiscus flowers. The accompanying CertiPAMP card and gift sleeve feature colourful rangoli-inspired patterns drawn from traditional Indian folk art. Rangoli is the art of creating decorative patterns on floors using coloured powders, flower petals, or rice during festivals, making this design choice a direct reference to Diwali's visual traditions. PAMP described this as the "third release in PAMP's sought-after Diwali bullion series."

The series represents PAMP's recognition that the gold bullion market extends beyond pure investment into cultural and ceremonial purchasing. The timing of each release before the Diwali season, the gift-oriented packaging, and the annual design evolution all serve a market where gold buying is both a financial decision and a spiritual practice. The parent company's connection to India through the MMTC-PAMP joint venture provides a natural bridge between Swiss manufacturing excellence and Indian gold demand.

PAMP Diwali vs Other Themed PAMP Gold Bars

Within PAMP's portfolio, the Diwali series sits between the high-volume Lady Fortuna and the more niche thematic ranges. The Lady Fortuna is PAMP's flagship bar, produced without mintage limits and offering the best secondary market liquidity and tightest buy-sell spreads of any PAMP product. The Diwali bar's limited edition status (reported 5,000 per edition) means higher premiums at purchase and potentially wider spreads on resale, but also the possibility of secondary market appreciation as editions sell out.

The Ka'Bah Mecca bar from PAMP's Faith series targets a different religious market (Muslim investors seeking Shariah-compliant gold with cultural significance) but follows a similar logic: culturally themed gold from an LBMA-accredited refinery at a premium above standard bars. The Faith series is not limited-edition in the same way as the Diwali bars, making the Diwali releases more scarce.

Against the MMTC-PAMP Lakshmi Ganesh range produced by PAMP's Indian joint venture, the Swiss Diwali bars are positioned as a premium import. Both feature Hindu deity designs and target the same seasonal demand, but the MMTC-PAMP products are priced for the Indian domestic market while the Swiss PAMP Diwali bars carry the premium associated with Swiss manufacturing and international brand positioning. MMTC-PAMP products are also available in a wider range of form factors including the distinctive shankh (conch shell) shape.

The PAMP Love Always bars target the gifting market from a romantic angle rather than a religious one. Both ranges share the CertiPAMP packaging and Veriscan authentication, but serve different occasions and buyer motivations. For Diwali, Dhanteras, and other Hindu celebrations, the Diwali series is the purpose-built choice in the PAMP range.

The PAMP Suisse Diwali series is an annual limited-edition range of .9999 fine precious metal bars celebrating the Hindu festival of lights. Each year's design features the goddess Lakshmi, associated with wealth and prosperity, in a new composition. Products come in 5 g, 10 g, and 1 oz weights, each individually serialised and sealed in a themed CertiPAMP assay card. We track 8 listings across 6 dealers.
Prices track the live spot price, plus a premium for the limited-edition design and CertiPAMP packaging. The comparison table above lists current offers from 6 dealers across 8 listings, covering the 5 g, 10 g, and 1 oz weights.
Buying precious metals during Diwali is a long-standing Hindu tradition, particularly on Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali celebrations. Dhanteras is considered auspicious for purchasing gold, silver, and new items, and the day is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and fortune. The custom is observed across India and among Hindu communities worldwide.
Festive-season demand from India can lift physical gold premiums around Diwali and Dhanteras, as domestic buying increases sharply. The global spot price, however, is set by broader market forces and is not reliably moved by any single seasonal event. International buyers may see slightly higher dealer premiums if supply tightens during the festival period.
The Diwali series is available in three weights: 5 grams, 10 grams, and 1 troy ounce, all in .9999 fine gold. Mintages are limited, with some editions reported at 5,000 pieces per weight. We currently list 8 products in this series across all available sizes.
