World Famous Dogs Gold: frequently asked questions

Prices depend on the current gold spot price, which stands at $4,176.20. Each coin contains 1 troy oz of .9999 fine gold, so the melt value moves in line with gold. The series carries a collector premium above spot. BullionFerret tracks 2 listings from 1 dealer so you can compare the best available prices.
World Famous Dogs is a ten-coin gold bullion series produced by Geiger Edelmetalle (operating as LEV, part of the Geiger Edelmetalle group). Each coin features a different dog breed and is issued as legal tender of the Republic of Cameroon with a 3,000 CFA Franc face value. Two coins are released per year across a planned five-year programme from 2022 to 2026.
Each World Famous Dogs coin contains 1 troy oz of .9999 fine gold (four nines), the highest standard purity for gold bullion. This meets the investment gold purity threshold in the UK, EU, and other major markets, making them VAT-exempt as investment gold in those jurisdictions.
These coins are legal tender of Cameroon, not the UK, so they are not exempt from UK Capital Gains Tax. In the UK, gains above the £3,000 annual exempt amount are taxed at 18% or 24% depending on your income. In the US, gold bullion is taxed as a collectible at up to 28% on long-term gains. In Canada, 50% of any gain is included in taxable income.
