Casa de Moneda de Mexico: frequently asked questions

The Casa de Moneda de Mexico is Mexico's sovereign mint and one of the oldest operating mints in the Americas. It produces all official Mexican circulation coinage and is the sole issuer of Mexico's investment bullion series, including the Libertad coins in gold, silver, and platinum.
The mint's main investment bullion output is the Libertad series: gold and silver Libertads in a range of sizes, and platinum Libertads in smaller denominations. BullionFerret currently tracks 104 products from this mint. Commemorative and circulation coinage produced alongside is not investment bullion.
Libertad bullion coins are struck in .999 fine silver (gold Libertads are .999 fine gold), meeting standard investment bullion purity. They should not be confused with older Mexican circulation peso coins, which were struck in lower-purity silver alloys or, in later decades, base metal.
Libertads are sold through specialist bullion dealers in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia rather than directly from the mint to international buyers. BullionFerret tracks 104 listings from dealers we monitor, so you can compare prices across retailers in one place.
