Credit Suisse: frequently asked questions

Credit Suisse was acquired by UBS in June 2023, and the legal merger completed on 31 May 2024. No new Credit Suisse-branded bars are being produced. However, bars already issued remain fully valid bullion: their value and LBMA Good Delivery status derive from Valcambi SA, the Swiss refinery that manufactured them, not from the bank's continued existence. They trade freely on the secondary market worldwide.
Most Credit Suisse minted bars carry a unique serial number on the front face, alongside the Valcambi assayer's mark (CHI ESSAYEUR FONDEUR). Bars are typically sold in sealed assay packaging (CertiCard or similar) that certifies weight, purity, and serial number. To verify, check the serial number matches the assay card, confirm the Valcambi hallmark, and weigh the bar against its stated specification.
Yes. Credit Suisse bars are refined to .9999 fineness (24 karat) by Valcambi SA, a Swiss refinery and LBMA Good Delivery-accredited facility. The CHI ESSAYEUR FONDEUR assayer's mark on each bar is Valcambi's certification of metal content and purity. Bars sealed in original assay packaging with an intact serial number and matching CertiCard are the strongest indicator of authenticity.
BullionFerret currently tracks 50 Credit Suisse listings across dealers that carry secondary-market stock. Because no new bars are being produced, availability depends on dealer inventory. The comparison table above shows current prices and premiums so you can find the best-value option.
