Geiger Edelmetalle: frequently asked questions

Geiger Edelmetalle AG was founded in 2008 by Adalbert Geiger, whose family has a silver-goods craft background in Schwäbisch Gemünd, southern Germany. The company is headquartered at Schloss Güldengossa, a late Baroque manor south of Leipzig, with production at a former Espenhain power station facility. In 2021 it became an LBMA Affiliate Member, the first Eastern German firm to do so. It remains 100% family-owned.
Geiger silver commands above-average premiums for several reasons: bars feature distinctive multi-layer security (UV-reactive varnish, unique serial numbers, serrated edges); assay-card and capsule packaging adds production cost; and strong collector and investor demand for the Security Line and Geiger original series supports the price spread.
Geiger Edelmetalle is based in Germany, with its headquarters at Schloss Güldengossa near Leipzig and its production facility at Rötha-Espenhain. Through its sister production arm, Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung (LEV), it produces gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and copper bars and coins. BullionFerret tracks 129 Geiger listings across participating dealers.
Geiger bars in the original and premium ranges carry unique serial numbers that can be checked against Geiger's online verification database. On Security Line bars, a UV light reveals the LEV rhombus and mint year in UV-reactive varnish on the reverse. The tamper-evident assay card or capsule also serves as a primary indicator: if the seal shows any sign of opening, treat the bar with suspicion and have it independently tested.
