About Jaggards

A Sydney Bullion and Rare Coin Dealer on Pitt Street

Jaggards is a precious metals and rare coin dealer based in the Sydney CBD, with a showroom and offices at Level 8, 74 Pitt Street. The business traces its founding to 1963, when it began as a numismatic trading venture in Sydney, and it has traded from the Pitt Street precinct since the 1980s. The legal entity behind the modern business, Jaggards Pty Limited, was incorporated in July 2016 following a change of ownership, and the company registered the trading name Jaggards Bullion in February 2026.

The range covers gold, silver, and platinum bullion in both bar and coin form, alongside a numismatic side that takes in rare coins, Australian gold sovereigns, banknotes, and secondary market pieces. Jaggards is an authorised Australian distributor of Argor-Heraeus minted gold products, including the Kinebar range, and an authorised distributor of ABC Bullion products. It also stocks Perth Mint bullion, giving its catalogue a strong representation of Australian-refined gold bars and coins next to the Swiss-minted lines.

Beyond over-the-counter and online sales, the company offers vaulted storage for clients who prefer not to take delivery, and supports investment in precious metals through self-managed super funds (SMSFs), a structure specific to the Australian retirement system.

Jaggards is registered as an Australian private company under ABN 15 613 822 709 and has been GST registered since July 2016. The business has sold online since at least 1998, when its website first appeared alongside its then retail shop on Pitt Street, and today the online store operates in parallel with the CBD premises.

From a Sydney Garage to the Pitt Street Precinct

Jaggards began in 1963, when Robert and Carol Jaggard started trading rare coins in Sydney, running the venture from a home garage. Australia's switch to decimal currency in 1966 reshaped the business: the changeover put large quantities of pre-decimal silver coinage into circulation as a commodity, and Jaggards expanded from rare coins into silver bullion alongside its numismatic trade.

By the 1980s the business had grown into a retail store at the corner of Pitt Street and Bridge Street in the Sydney CBD, adjacent to the Australian Stock Exchange. It was an early arrival online as well. The Wayback Machine recorded the first snapshot of jaggards.com.au in December 1998, when the site advertised the retail shop at 69-73 Pitt Street and presented the business primarily as a numismatic dealer, a sign that rare coins remained central to its identity even as bullion grew.

The business changed hands in July 2016, with the current legal entity, Jaggards Pty Limited, incorporated and registered for an ABN on 22 July 2016. The new ownership invested in modernising the operation, replacing its legacy back-office systems with the NetSuite platform, which went live in June 2017. The company also relocated within the same city block, moving to its present premises at Level 8, 74 Pitt Street.

Jaggards marked its 60th year of trading in 2023. In February 2026 it registered the trading name Jaggards Bullion under the same ABN, reflecting how far the bullion side of the business has come since the silver expansion of the 1960s. Today the company carries gold coins, silver, and platinum bullion together with rare coins and banknotes, distributes Argor-Heraeus and ABC Bullion products, stocks Perth Mint lines, and offers vaulted storage and SMSF investment services from the same Pitt Street precinct it has occupied for some four decades.
