The first chapter, titled "Loss," depicts the moment that transforms Bodvar from a peaceful man into a vengeance-seeking warrior: he finds his village burning, his wife Astrid dying, and learns his daughter Sunneva has been abducted.

The coin is struck in .9999 fine silver (four nines), an uncommon purity for a private mint product. Most private mint rounds use .999 (three nines). The higher purity positions the Bodvar Saga alongside sovereign mint standards like the Royal Canadian Mint and Perth Mint, though Germania Mint itself is not a sovereign issuer. The coins carry a denomination of 5 Mark, Germania Mint's own fantasy currency with no legal tender status in any country.

Germania Mint is a German-owned company with production facilities in Poland that has built a strong following in the European bullion market. The Sowilo rune (associated with sun and victory) is carved on the bear's forehead. A runic circle forms the outer ring, and a small shield bearing the Germania Mint double-headed eagle hallmark is set within a frame of bear teeth.

The 2 oz ultra-high relief antiqued version includes black light (UV-reactive) colour elements that create hidden design details visible only under ultraviolet light.
