About the Star of David Silver

PAMP Suisse's Limited-Edition Silver Bullion with Jewish Heritage

The Star of David is a limited-edition silver bullion product from PAMP Suisse, one of the world's most recognised precious metals refiners. Part of PAMP's Faith series, which produces designs representing five major world religions, the Star of David bar carries the hexagram symbol of Jewish faith and identity alongside the Hebrew word "Zion." The 1 oz silver bar and 1 oz silver round are struck in .999 fine silver with a limited mintage of 3,000 pieces per format.

PAMP SA (Produits Artistiques Metaux Precieux) is based in Ticino, Switzerland, and holds LBMA Good Delivery accreditation, the gold standard for refinery quality assurance. Each Star of David bar carries an individual serial number and is sealed in PAMP's tamper-evident CertiPAMP packaging, which includes an assay certificate confirming weight and purity. The bar can also be verified through PAMP's Veriscan technology, which uses metallic surface fingerprinting to confirm authenticity via a smartphone app.

The limited mintage of 3,000 pieces is among the lowest in PAMP's product range, contrasting with the open-mintage production of their standard Fortuna bars. This scarcity, combined with the religious and cultural significance of the design, positions the Star of David as a gift-oriented product popular for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Hanukkah, and other Jewish celebrations, as well as a collectible bullion piece.

The obverse features a deeply detailed hexagram, the Star of David or Magen David, a symbol that became widely associated with Judaism from the 17th century onward and was adopted as the central emblem of the Israeli flag in 1948. The Hebrew inscription "Zion" appears alongside the star, symbolising heritage and the biblical promised land. The reverse displays the standard PAMP logo, weight, purity, and individual serial number.

The colourised CertiPAMP card provides a blue-themed presentation frame specific to the Star of David design, with a matching gift envelope. PAMP's Veriscan technology scans the unique metallic surface pattern of each bar, creating a digital fingerprint that can be verified through the PAMP mobile app. This provides a level of authentication beyond the serial number and sealed packaging.

A gold version is also available: a 5 gram bar in .9999 fine gold, limited to 3,000 pieces (some UK dealers have listed editions limited to 2,500), also in CertiPAMP packaging.

Star of David Tax Treatment by Country

As a privately minted bar with no legal tender status, the Star of David follows standard bullion tax rules based on metal type and purity in each jurisdiction.

  • United Kingdom: Silver bars carry 20% VAT. No CGT exemption (not UK legal tender, and bars are never CGT-exempt regardless). The margin scheme may apply to pre-owned examples. Gold bars from PAMP are VAT-exempt as investment gold (.9999 purity exceeds the .995 threshold).
  • European Union: Silver bars subject to local VAT rates (17% to 27%). Gold bars VAT-exempt under the EU Investment Gold Directive (.995+ purity in bar form).
  • United States: No federal sales tax. State exemptions vary; most states that exempt precious metals include bars meeting purity standards. The .999 silver purity meets the IRA threshold, though custodian acceptance of limited-edition bars varies.
  • Canada: GST/HST exempt on investment-grade silver at 99.9%+ purity in bar or ingot form.
  • Australia: Silver at .999 meets the 99.9% GST exemption threshold for investment-grade precious metals in bar form.
  • Singapore: Qualifies for IPM GST exemption as silver at 99.9% purity in bar form.
  • Hong Kong: No sales tax or import duty on precious metals.
  • Israel: PAMP bars are widely recognised but import duties and 17% VAT may apply.

Star of David vs PAMP Fortuna and Other Religious Bullion

The most direct comparison within PAMP's range is the standard Fortuna bar, the refiner's flagship product featuring Lady Fortuna. The Fortuna is produced in open (unlimited) mintage, trades at lower premiums, and is the default choice for buyers seeking PAMP silver at competitive pricing. The Star of David's limited mintage of 3,000 pieces commands a higher premium but offers design significance and genuine scarcity that the Fortuna does not.

Within the Faith series, the Star of David sits alongside designs for Christianity (Cross), Islam (Ka'aba), Buddhism, and Hinduism (Lakshmi). The PAMP Menorah bar, also Judaism-themed, is a companion product from PAMP's broader religious range. No other major LBMA-accredited refiner produces a Star of David-themed bullion bar, giving PAMP an effective monopoly on this specific niche for buyers who want the assurance of LBMA accreditation and the Veriscan authentication system.

Some private mints produce Star of David-themed rounds, but these lack LBMA accreditation, Veriscan authentication, and the CertiPAMP sealed packaging that provides chain-of-custody assurance. For buyers who value provenance and authentication alongside religious symbolism, the PAMP product occupies a tier above these alternatives.

Against generic 1 oz silver bars from other refiners, the Star of David trades at a meaningful premium that reflects its limited mintage, gift-market positioning, and the PAMP brand. Buyers focused purely on accumulating silver weight at the lowest cost per ounce will find better value in standard bullion bars. The Star of David appeals to those who seek a product that combines precious metal value with cultural and religious significance in presentation-quality packaging.
